Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Wednesday called for countries that provoke famine to receive the “toughest reation” from the world.
Addressing the Global Food Security Summit, online, Zelenskyy called the spread of famine the same “immoral and inhumane weapon of mass destruction” as the spread of deadly bacteria or radiation.
The Ukrainian president said the world had received almost 10 million tons of grain less since Russia invaded his country and “tens of millions” of people had found themselves “on the brink of starvation” or are starving.
The Global Food Security Summit was held in New York on the sidelines of United Nation General Assembly.
