World Contraception Day – September 26, 2022 , history significance why we celebrate
World Contraception Day is commemorated on September 26 of every year. The celebration of the day marks the importance of every pregnancy. It also brings awareness about the modern contraception choices that are currently available to women and couples.
History of World Contraception Day
World Contraception Day (WCD) was established in the year 2007 by ten international family planning organizations. It is an annual worldwide campaign center that has a vision as to where every pregnancy is wanted. The observance of this day raises public awareness about the means of contraception.
The mission of the WCD is to promote awareness of contraception and thereby enable young people to make informed choices about both their sexual and reproductive health. All the international non-governmental organizations support the observance of this World Contraception Day world for achieving this vision and mission.
The WCD promotes family planning and contraceptive methods that are secured and preferred. It ensures the well-being, autonomy of women and tells how to achieve progress on the global health goals.
Thus by providing awareness about contraception and reproductive health, the couples will avoid unplanned pregnancy, abortions, and even the spread of sexually transmitted diseases.
World Contraception Day is supported by a coalition of 16 international Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), along with governmental organizations and scientific and medical societies with an interest to spread knowledge about sexual and reproductive health.
