Mark Hamill was born on September 25, 1951, in Oakland, California, to Virginia Suzanne and U.S. Navy Captain William Thomas Hamill. One of seven children, four sisters, Terry, Jan, Jeanie, and Kim, and two brothers, Will and Patrick.
His mother was half Swedish and half English, while his father is of English, Irish, Scottish, and Welsh descent. At the Los Angeles City College, where he studied theatre, he made his acting debut in 1969 on “The Bill Cosby Show.” Later, in 1963, he co-starred in the comedy series “The Texas Wheelers.” In 1964, he played Kent Murray in a recurring role on the soap opera “General Hospital.”
