Mourners and wellwishers crowded along the famous route in the Scottish capital were mostly silent as the sombre procession passed.
Police arrested a young man who shouted at the UK’s Prince Andrew as he accompanied Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin to St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh on Monday. The prince and other members of the royal family, including King Charles III, marched behind the hearse as it made its way down the famous Royal Mile.
Mourners and wellwishers crowded along the famous route in the Scottish capital were mostly silent as the sombre procession passed. But at one point, a young man was seen and heard shouting at the Duke of York, though it was unclear what he said. Footage of the incident shows the man being pulled away and members of the crowds drowning out his voice by chanting “God Save The King.” Police Scotland later said that a 22-year-old man had been detained in connection with a breach of the peace.
