Diljit Dosanjh is lending his voice and support to get justice for Sidhu Moose Wala, a cause spearheaded by the late singer-rapper’s family and fans. On Thursday, the Punjabi singer and actor used his online platforms to raise awareness about a candle march for Sidhu Moose Wala. While many fans took to the streets to participate in marches in Mansa, Sidhu’s village, among other places, some praised Diljit and said they were glad someone from the music industry ‘finally broke the silence and spoke for justice’.

On Thursday, Sidhu Moose Wala’s family members led a candle march in Mansa district of Punjab. Meanwhile, a lot of people from across Punjab, who wanted to participate in the candle march, also paid their tribute to the late singer. In an Instagram post, the late singer’s family urged those who could not participate in the Mansa candle march to do the same in their neighbourhood, town, or localities. “We request everyone, who cannot join us in Mansa today for the candle march, to do the same in their neighbourhoods, towns or localities. Please email us the details of your organised candlelight vigils and we will share those on our social media platforms,” the caption read.

On Sidhu Moose Wala’s official Instagram account, which is now handled by his family to share updates with his fans, a post regarding the candle march was shared with a black and white picture of Sidhu with a burning candle and a message that said ‘Justice for Sidhu Moose Wala’. Diljit had taken to Twitter to share the image with the hashtag ‘Justice for Sidhu Moose Wala’.

Many fans reacted to Diljit’s tweet. One person wrote, “I’m glad someone from music industry finally broke the silence and spoke for the justice for our legend Sidhu Moose Wala. Thank you Diljit. You have my respect from now onwards.” A fan also wrote, “Respect for you has increased after this post of yours. Diljit, thank you for speaking up. Your voice has the power to reach millions. Never stop supporting. We’ll look forward to you for more such stands. We love you.”

Sidhu’s father Balkaur Singh had also shared the same post on his Instagram account and urged people to support them in any way they can. He also took to his Instagram Stories to share a series of pictures and videos from the various candle marches held in Sidhu’s memory on Thursday. Sidhu Moose Wala was killed on May 29 in Mansa, Punjab.

Recently, Diljit paid an emotional tribute to Sidhu Moose Wala at his Vancouver concert. Taking to social media in June, Diljit shared a glimpse of his performance. The video showed the text ‘This Show Is Dedicated To Our Brothers’ written on an LED banner in the background. He had also paid tribute to Punjabi actor Deep Sandhu and late Kabaddi player Sandeep Singh Sandhu.
