Marc Anthony is an American singer, songwriter, actor, and record and television producer who was born on September 16, 1968. He was born and raised in New York City in Spanish Harlem. Anthony was born to Guillermina Muniz and Felipe Muniz. His father worked as a musician and in a hospital cafeteria, while his mother was a housewife. He is of Puerto Rican descent. Anthony began singing at an early age and quickly realized that to become successful, he needed to improve his stage presence.

Anthony began his career as a session vocalist for freestyle and underground house music artists in New York. Anthony sang background vocals for other artists for a period before switching to Salsa. Anthony’s first Spanish album, “Otra Nota,” was released in Spain in 1993.

He was initially apprehensive about recording a Spanish album and turned down an offer from RMM Records, but he eventually changed his mind. It cemented his reputation as a rising salsa star. In 1995, he released his second salsa album, “Todo a Su Tiempo.” The album was a tremendous hit in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, and it was certified gold in both countries.
