India’s Selva P Thirumaran won a silver medal in the men’s triple jump event at the World Athletics Under-20 Championships.

Selva finished behind Jamaica’s Jaden Hibbert with a best effort of 16.15m, who jumped 17.27m and set a championship record as well as bagging the gold.
Of Thiruman’s six attempts, only the first three were declared valid, while the remaining three were declared fouls. The 17-year-old Indian made a medal-winning jump in her second attempt. Earlier, Bhar had won a bronze medal in the 4x400m mixed relay and a silver medal in the women’s 400m race thanks to Rupal Choudhary. With this victory, Rupal also became the first Indian to win two medals in an event at the World Championships.
