Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday sent a message of condolence to Britain’s new King Charles III following the “tragic death” of Queen Elizabeth II, state broadcaster CCTV reported.
Xi offered “sincere sympathies” to the British royal family, government and people in the message.
“Queen Elizabeth II was the first British monarch to visit China. Her death is a great loss to the British people,” Xi said, quoted by CCTV.
“I attach great importance to the development of China-UK relations,” he said.
Xi said he is “willing to work with King Charles III” in order to foster Sino-British relations further.
