Commonwealth games 2022-Sushila lost in final, won silver medal

Indian judokas put two more medals in India’s bag on Monday. Sushila Devi lost in the women’s 48kg finals and had to be content with the silver medal, while Vijay Singh won the bronze medal.

Sushila, who won a silver medal in the 2014 Commonwealth Games, made a stellar performance to make it to the final of the Birmingham Games. But in the final, she was defeated by South Africa’s Michaela Waitebuie.

end to end encounter

The final proved to be an end-to-end encounter with both judokas not dropping an inch until the final whistle as they both failed to register a single point at the end of regulation time. The competition then went into a golden score time, where South African judokas won the gold medal by winning a point by placing Sushila Devi’s shoulder on the mat.

Sushila won the semi-final from Ippon

The winner Sushila defeated Priscilla Morand of Mauritius at Ippone in the semi-finals. There are three types of scoring in Judo. It is called ippon, waza-ari and yuko. Ippon occurs when the player throws at the opponent and does not allow him to rise. A full point is awarded when it is fired and the player wins. Won this match with Sushila Ippon.
