NATIONAL STRAWBERRY CREAM PIE DAY – September 28, 2022, history significance why we celebrate timeline fact’s

September 28 celebrates National Strawberry Cream Pie Day. Did you know that the strawberries themselves contribute up to 70% of the weight of a strawberry cream pie? Since this day is dedicated to celebrating the delicious cream pie, you’re allowed to take a break from your diet and indulge in a slice, or two, of this delicious dessert!

History of National Strawberry Cream Pie Day

The garden strawberry that we know today was first bred in Brittany, France, in the 1750’s via a cross of Fragaria virginiana (Virginia strawberry) from eastern North America and Fragaria chiloensis (Chilean strawberry), which was brought from Chile by Amédée-François Frézier in 1714.

The plant is now accommodated worldwide for its fruit, and it is appreciated for its characteristic aroma, bright color, juiciness, and sweetness. Today, the fruit is used in many things such as milkshakes, fruit juice, ice cream, preserves, and of course, pies.

The best things in life rise to the top and cream is a perfect example of this. The perfect cream for making a strawberry cream pie is sweet cream, a cream that was separated directly from milk rather than that which was skimmed from whey as part of the cheese making process.

This lily white, rich and luxuriant substance is the perfect compliment to the bright lipstick red color of strawberries, and when combined with strawberries in a strawberry cream pie becomes heaven itself.
