Jharkhand: Six men gang-rape 22-year-old woman in front of her husband & relative; arrested

In Jharkhand’s Palamu district, a 22-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by six men in front of her husband and relative. According to police, all six accused have been apprehended.

According to Palamu Superintendent of Police (SP) Chandan Kumar Sinha, the incident happened in the area near Satbarwa Police Station, close to Bakoria Bhaluahi Valley, news agency PTI reported.

After an argument at her in-laws’ home in the Patan Police Station area of the Palamu district, the woman left on foot for her father’s home in the Manika Police Station area of the neighbouring Latehar district.

Around 8 pm, her husband and a member of his family went in search of her on a motorcycle and discovered her casually walking along National Highway 39 in the vicinity of Satbarwa Police Station.

According to the woman’s husband’s statement to the police, six men arrived on motorcycles as he was trying to convince her to go back home, severely beat him and a relative, and then took his wife to a nearby location, where they raped her. The husband could see and hear them.

The survivor’s husband claimed to have known two of the six accused. He was badly hurt, and after the alleged thrashing, his relative lost consciousness, PTI reported.

By the time he arrived at the crime scene, the accused were beginning to ride his motorcycle to another location with his wife.
