Thunderbirds Day is celebrated every September 30 following its founding by ITV Studios on August 16, 2017. It was first celebrated in 2017 and has been celebrated annually to honor the classic British science fiction television series “Thunderbirds” and its revival, “Thunderbirds Are Go.”

Gerry Anderson’s idea for “Thunderbirds” was inspired by the 1963 West Germany mine disaster known as ‘Wunder von Lengede,’ where 11 miners were saved from an imploded mine after surviving for 14 days.
