Community Media Day – October 20,2022, history, significance

Community Media Day is an annual event that celebrates and brings awareness to the importance of free speech and accessible media for the millions of citizen journalists who tell their beautifully unique stories every year. Community Media Day was founded in Brooklyn, New York but is celebrated all throughout the world by anyone who wants to ensure that the media landscape remains inclusive for all TV, film, and mobile device artists.

Community Media Day will always fall on October 20 which almost always falls in the week of Free Speech Week. The first annual Community Media Day will take place on Thursday, October 20, 2016.

Community Media Day was founded in Brooklyn, New York by Alease Annan. Alease works for Brooklyn Free Speech television, a community media television station in Brooklyn. Community Media Day will be celebrated by community media stations throughout the United States, and eventually the world.
