National Custodial Worker Day – October 2, 2022 history significance why we celebrate
They work while we sleep. Sometimes we walk around them in the halls not always “seeing” them or their work as important. That’s why we love this day, National Custodian Day, which rolls around every October 2. It recognizes the hard work that it takes to keep our public facilities in tip-top shape as well as the people who dilligently work, often at low wages, to make sure we have schools and workplaces that are spotless and sanitary.
Custodians are our first line of defense of the war on germs and often, it’s a thankless task. So, on National Custodian Day, show your appreciation to the custodians who clean the office buildings or schools that you frequent. As far we’re concerned, custodians are the hardest-working people in show business!
History of National Custodial Worker Day
The history and origin of the National Custodial Worker Day are unknown. It is otherwise known as National Custodial Worker Recognition Day. The day aims at appreciating and thanking the custodial workers for what they do every day. Imagine how your floor will look when it is not cleaned for two days? Custodial workers mop floors, clean toilets, take out the garbage, and keep the places clean and well maintained.
Celebrating a day for these workers is indeed a priceless thing. They work in office buildings, schools, colleges, hospitals, museums, churches, and other buildings. These workers often get up early and finish their work before others. The hard work done every day by these custodial workers is often taken for granted and unnoticed. Cleanliness is next to godliness and why not a day for those who provide us with a clean surrounding? Those people, of course, deserve a special day celebration.g
